Finally, Version 3 of the 2010 Mock Draft!!!  Combine weekend has come and gone, Free Agency is winding down, and we only have a few Pro Days left!  UPDATED FOR THE HOLMES TRADE, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK IT OUT! NOT AS MUCH OF AN IMPACT AS MCNABB BUT DEFINITELY CHANGES!!!

Round
1. Rams
team
Pick Breakdown...
Sam Bradford
QB from Oklahoma
At 1-15 you're not looking for depth, you're looking for guys who are going to start from day one and the winner of this year's top spot, the Rams, have a lot of holes to fill so this pick could go in any number of directions. DL, OL, QB, WR, you name it, they need it. Barring a trade out of the top spot, I see Spagnuolo pulling the trigger on Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford now that it appears his shoulder is checking out.  Having not drafted a QB in the 1st round since the late sixties, and having missed out on several other recently drafted and highly successful QBs, it's time to plug in a franchise signal caller to lead the offense into the next decade.

2. Lions
team
Pick Breakdown...
Ndamukong Suh
DT from Nebraska
With only one more win than the Rams, the Lions find themselves in a similar situation as St Louis. They are perpetually in a rebuilding phase and have significant needs across the board, but the good news is that last year's number one pick, Matt Stafford, looks to be a keeper. Detroit should now focus on it's foundation upgrading it's offensive line to ensure that it's franchise QB remains in one piece. With the recent signings of Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams, Detroit has gone ahead and solidified its defensive line (along with former fourth rounder Sammie Lee Hill from DII powerhouse Stillman) so their need to draft Suh or McCoy is gone. As such Detroit will have to turn its attention to signing the premier tackle in this year's draft to protect their sizeable investment.

3. Buccaneers
team
Pick Breakdown...
Gerald McCoy
DT from Oklahoma

Tampa has never really found the next Warren Sapp to lead it's defensive line and it's no secret that they would love to see Suh or McCoy fall to them at the three hole to shore up their defensive front, and as luck would have it, the Bucs are shocked to see the former Cornhusker fall into their lap.  This pick is intriguing as it looks like the first true threat for a trade up for any team looking to move up to select the top QB or OL available.  With Snyder and Shanahan on deck and looking to land either, a team like the Seahawks could easily trade it's two first rounders to move up to the third and steal Clausen from underneath Danny and Shanny. This would be ideal for the Bucs, as they need help on both sides of the ball.  Acquiring those two picks would easily allow them to grab safety Eric Berry to pair up with Aqib Talib in the secondary, and then land this year's top WR in Dez Bryant, to compliment his namesake Antonio.

4. Redskins
team
Pick Breakdown...
Trent Williams
OT from Oklahoma

As the new head coach in the nation's capital, Shanahan wants to build this team around his quarterback, and Jason Campbell doesn't appear to be the answer in D.C.  As a result Danny and Shanny went after McNabb and didn't have to give up their first rounder to do so which allows them to move forward and fill other areas.  OL is also a primary need as their best lineman, Chris Samuels, will most likely be forced into retirement by a neck injury, and the McNabb signing frees them up to land one of the top lineman in this draft, Bryan Bulaga

5. Chiefs
team
Pick Breakdown...
Russell Okung
OT from Oklahoma State

The Chiefs have plenty of needs and could go in a number of different directions.  Last year, Kansas City ranked among the worst in the league when it comes to sacks allowed so they'll need a top O-lineman but Okung and Bulaga are already off the board so they'll go with the next sure thing.  Eric Berry is currently ranked as the top safety is this years draft and would be a huge upgrade to the Chiefs back end but Cassell needs to be protected or the Chiefs million dollar man won't be around long.  Other options might be Alabama's Rolando McClain or OSU's Dez Bryant but my gut tells me it's the former Hawkeye.

6. Seahawks
team
Pick Breakdown...
Bryan Bulaga
OT from Iowa

With Pete Carroll installed as the new head coach, he's going to want to build his franchise around a new QB but doesn't want to throw him to the wolves. With Matt Hasselbeck turning 35 and having missed significant time over the last four years due to injury, they made a play for Charlie Whitehurst for Hasselbeck to tutor for one or two years before handing over the keys to the car.  They'll need to take one of the top rated offensive lineman to replace All-Pro Walter Jones on their offensive line instead but both Okung and Bulaga are both off of the board and six might be too high for the rest of the OL prospects.  So instead they go in a different direction and grab this year's top safety in Eric Berry to fill another position of need.

7. Browns
team
Pick Breakdown...
Eric Berry
SS, FS from Tennessee

Ahh the Browns.  Much like Detroit, Cleveland has been mired in perpetually rebuilding their franchise.  The one bright spot has been their offensive line, but undoubtedly a team that has many needs to address otherwise.  Given their existing quarterback dilemma, I don't see the Brownies further muddying those waters by taking a QB should any of them be available.  They drafted two WR's in the second round last year and they have record setting RB Jerome Harrison back next year, so it's doubtful they'll use the seventh pick on a skill position player on the offensive side of the ball.  Cleveland's pass defense last year was abysmal so adding this year's top CB prospect is no stretch even though he had less than impressive combine results.  Although Mangini's 3-4 defense calls for quick, athletic LB's adding stud LB Rolando McClain would be a very real possibility but might be a bit high to take the Bama product.  But with Gerald McCoy sitting out there at seven the Browns quickly jump on the best defensive tackle in this draft.

8. Raiders
team
Pick Breakdown...
Mike Iupati
OG from Idaho

It's Al Davis so there's no reason to write insightful commentary on who this pick will be because I don't think even Al knows.  The only reason I've got the soon to be third "Pierre" in the NFL here is because he's the lastest workout warrior that's shooting up the draft boards. Al loves those physical specimens who possess terrific speed so this might pick might even end up being Bruce Campbell (but that would actually fill a true need and that just isn't the Raiders).

9. Bills
team
Pick Breakdown...
Jimmy Clausen
QB from Notre Dame

The obvious need here is at quarterback and with Bradford already off the board, Clausen becomes the pick and does so because of the Skins trade for McNabb.  Last year's number one Aaron Maybin didn't really show much, and Buffalo can't go another draft without a hitting on this pick so they need to play it safe.  Even with the success of 2009 draft picks Wood and Levitre, the Bills never did replace Pro Bowler Jason Peters, so offensive line is a huge need as well.

10. Jaguars
team
Pick Breakdown...
Derrick Morgan
DE from Georgia Tech

Having upgraded the talent on the offensive line considerably in the 2009 draft with 1st and 2nd rounders Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton, the Jags need to focus on the other side of the ball in 2010.  Despite spending their first two picks on DE's Groves and Harvey just two years ago, the Jags managed to finish dead last in 2009 having registered a league and franchise low 14 sacks for the enitre year.  With the opportunity to add this year's top pass rusher to the mix and with local product JPP already off the board, Jacksonville goes next door for the Ramblin' Wreck's DE Derrick Morgan, a pick that perfectly matches need and value.  It is possible that Florida QB Tim Tebow gets the nod here as the Jags are struggling to fill seats and Tebow has a cult like following. And although that might prove to be a sound business decision it's not going to be one that wins football games.

11. Broncos
team
Pick Breakdown...
Rolando McClain
ILB from Alabama

This is one pick that will remain fluid right up until the draft especially considering that Bryant's stock is on the decline.  Should Marshall get his wish and get the heck out of Dodge, the Broncos will have a big hole to fill at WR to pair up with Eddie Royal, which makes Dez Bryant a logical choice at this selection. The hands down best pass catcher in this draft, Bryant only played in three games before his suspension and has really only had one uber-productive season as a sophomore when he scored 19 TDs, so there is considerable risk with this pick.  If Marshall and head coach Josh McDaniels play nice, then Denver should look to the other side of the ball, and with the top two DE's already off the board, LB Rolando McClain should be the pick at 11.

12. Dolphins
team
Pick Breakdown...
Earl Thomas
SS, FS from Texas

With both Jason Taylor and Joey Porter way past their prime, it's time for Parcells to upgrade the Fins linebacking corps.  And given his affinity for drafting LB's in the first round, expect the Tuna to draft this thumper with the twelfth pick.  Miami does have needs at DL and WR but without being able to land the top prospect at either position, the best backer in this year's draft, McClain, is the pick and is certainly talented enough to man either the inside or outside spots.

13. 49ers
team
Pick Breakdown...
Joe Haden
CB from Florida

With Gore, Davis, and Crabtree on the roster the Niners can forego adding a skill position player like CJ Spiller who many draftniks have pencilled in here.  With genuine needs on the OLine and in the secondary, drafting a situational player like Spiller at thirteen doesn't make any sense.  I don't see the Seahawks, Giants, or Titans taking an RB with their first round picks so they could conceivably get the Clemson tailback with their second pick of round one at 17 should they decide to go that way.  What some people claim is the second best tackle in this draft behind Okung, Anthony Davis,  is at a greater risk of being scooped up prior to the seventeenth selection but with the top corner this year, Joe Haden, still sitting there at 13 there's a bigger risk, he'll be off the board at the next pick.  And even though he had suspect combine results, Iron Mike makes Haden the newest Niner.

14. Seahawks
team
Pick Breakdown...
C.J. Spiller
RB from Clemson
The Hawks didn't get a chance to draft a top lineman with their first pick so they grabbed the top safety but still need that replacement for All-Pro Walter Jones.  With considerable depth in this year's draft at OL, Pete Carroll and Co. will look to the second round to fill that need.  With the current stable of backs, Julius Jones and Justin Forsett, not really lighting it up Seattle will look to upgrade it's offense with the top playmaker in all college backfields in CJ Spiller.  Having landed the top safety and top running back, Carroll's first draft in a long time is nothing short of successful.

15. Giants
team
Pick Breakdown...
Sergio Kindle
OLB from Texas

Only a few years removed from the Super Bowl, the Giants don't have any glaring needs but with the loss of Antonio Pierce and the sub-par efforts by their current defensive line, they could use an infusion of talent along that front seven.  Kiwanuka will soon be a free agent, Umenyiora wants out of the Big Apple, and recent free agents Chris Canty and Rocky Bernard have not done much to impress anyone.  With McClain off the board, they should look to the Longhorns OLB Sergio Kindle or UCLA's Brian Price to bolster their underperforming front seven.  Given Kindle's ability to project at either DE or OLB in the pro's, his versatility will serve the Jints well in the efforts to get back to the title game.

16. Titans
team
Pick Breakdown...
Jason Pierre-Paul
DE from South Florida

It's always tough to replace a difference maker like Albert Haynesworth and the Titans struggled to do so in 2009.  That, coupled with the loss of Kyle Vanden Bosch and not to mention Keith Bulluck, should have Tennessee looking at infusing new talent into their defensive front.  Although carrying some off the field baggage, the Gators Carlos Dunlap would adequately fill their needs up front and if history has shown us anything, Coach Jeff Fisher has no reservations about taking a flyer on players who make questionable decisions (see Haynesworth).  The Titans would also love to pair someone up with Cortland Finnegan in the secondary, especiallyh with having to face the likes of Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson, and Mike Sims-Walker twice a year but the drop-off in talent from Joe Haden is far too great to reach for the next best corner.

17. 49ers
team
Pick Breakdown...
Anthony Davis
OT from Rutgers

With Gore, Davis, and Crabtree on the roster the Niners can forego adding a skill position player like CJ Spiller who many draftniks have pencilled in here.  With genuine needs on the OLine and in the secondary, drafting a situational player like Spiller at thirteen doesn't make any sense.  I don't see the Seahawks, Giants, or Titans taking an RB with their first round picks so they could conceivably get the Clemson tailback with their second pick of round one at 17 should they decide to go that way.  What some people claim is the second best tackle in this draft behind Okung, Anthony Davis,  is a bit of a risk due to his character, but if his handling of Vernon Davis is any indicator, Coach Singletary should have no problems with the Rutgers tackle and his perceived character concerns.

18. Steelers
team
Pick Breakdown...
Maurkice Pouncey
OT from Florida

Pittsburgh's offensive line has historically been its strong suit, but over the last few years has started to show some chinks in the armor.  As the ground game sputtered, the Steelers pass offense suddenly became prolific, but so did the sacks allowed on Big Ben.  The Steelers organization has openly committed to rediscovering the ground game that has been their bread butter for decades.  At 18 some may say that this is too high to select a guard, a position that typically comes off the board at the bottom of the first round, but Pittsburgh has always coveted versatile lineman so they opt for the top guard in this year's draft, Mike Iupati who can play either guard or tackle at the next level.

19. Falcons
team
Pick Breakdown...
Brandon Graham
DE from Michigan

With the recent signing of Dunta Robinson from Houston and the re-signing of veteran corner Brian Williams, the Falcons, who had last year's 28th ranked pass defense, feel comfortable with their current starters and can now turn their attention to improving their pass rush.  Given that the 2009 silver medal winner in the NFC South will need to defend against the most explosive offense in the NFL, and this year's Super Bowl winner New Orleans Saints, this is a move that GM Thomas Dimitrioff has to make if the Falcons want to stay competitive in this division.

20. Texans
team
Pick Breakdown...
Ryan Mathews
RB from Fresno State

Since Houston opted not to franchise Dunta Robinson, the top CB available in this year's free agent class walked and made an already suspect secondary even worse.  Having never had an elite safety in their short history in the NFL and with an already solid front seven, Houston needs to complete their defensive overhaul.  As such it's likely that the Texans select hometown hero and Longhorns safety Earl Thomas, to bolster their secondary filling a serious need without having to make a reach pick at this spot in the draft.

21. Bengals
team
Pick Breakdown...
Dan Williams
DT from Tennessee

I've seen TE as an area of need here in the Queen City and several mock drafts have Sooner TE Jermaine Gresham going to Bengals organization at this pick.  But at 21, taking a guy who missed all of his senior season with a knee injury and one who by the start of the 2010 season will not have played in a meaningful game in nearly two years, is a big risk.  Considering the club drafted Chase Coffman last year who, like Gresham, comes from a spread offense, then Marvin Lewis may want to look to fill out his defensive front by adding DT Dan Williams from Tennessee, especially in the run-heavy AFC North, while waiting to address his TE needs in round two with a more complete player like Arizona's Rob Gronkowski.

22. Patriots
team
Pick Breakdown...
Dez Bryant
WR from Oklahoma State

With the departure of several leaders on defense over the last few years, the Pats need an infusion of talent on that side of the ball.  With the re-signing of Vince Wolfork and most of the top edge rushers off of the board, Kyle Wilson becomes the selection and is inserted at corner in New England's struggling defense and will return punts.  With question marks at  both WR and RB going into next year,  the Pats may want to address both of those needs with any of their three picks in round two.  Benn, Tate, Best, or Dwyer may all be available when their number is called in the second round.

23. Packers
team
Pick Breakdown...
Kyle Wilson
CB from Boise State

Even though they were a playoff team, Green Bay has some glaring weaknesses that they need to address and if you were watching last year's playoff loss to the Cardinals, you know what I mean.  Upgrades to the secondary and linebacking corps are necessary, as is help on the offensive line.  With last year's transition to the 3-4, both 2009 draft picks BJ Raji and Clay Matthews both exhibited real promise in Dom Caper's new scheme.  But the Packer's woes in pass protection were blatantly obvious, they gave up five sacks to Bengals DE Antwan Odom in one game, and nearly got Aaron Rodgers killed last year.  Quickly developing into one of the top QB's in the league, Rodgers will not be able to withstand that kind of punishment for long, and Campbell is the best fit for the Pack's zone blocking scheme.

24. Eagles
team
Pick Breakdown...
Kareem Jackson
CB from Alabama

Probably one of the better teams on paper the Eagles don't have overwhelming needs at any one position which is why they're picking so low in draft.  However, they were pretty banged up at the linebacker position by the end of 2009 and they have nice options at 24.  With Penn State's Bowman, USC's Griffen, and Mizzou's Weatherspoon all still on the board, Philly heads back to Columbia, Missouri one more time and brings in another Tiger alumnus.  Spoon will make an impact right away and is talented enough to play either inside or outside for Andy Reid should injuries continue to plague the Eagles backers in 2010.

25. Ravens
team
Pick Breakdown...
Devin McCourty
CB from Rutgers

With Derrick Mason seemingly headed for retirement and Mark Clayton the only serviceable pass catcher on the Ravens roster, Baltimore went ahead and signed perpetual malcontent and thirty year old, Anquan Boldin who immediately upgrades the receiving corp for this offense.  With their receiving needs filled, GM Ozzie Newsome works his magic and goes after the best cornerback option available and selects the second of two Scarlet Knights in the first round, Devin McCourty.

26. Cardinals
team
Pick Breakdown...
Sean Weatherspoon
OLB from Missouri

Letting Karlos Dansby go in free agency may be a huge mistake, Betrand Berry retired, and Clark Haggans and Chike Okeafor are mediocre at best.  Arizona would be wise to reinvest in its linebacking corp (even with Joey Porter), especially if they're going to continue to run a 3-4 defense as the linebackers are the playmakers in that scheme.  Fortunately for Coach Whiz, Penn State's OLB Navorro Bowman still remains undrafted, who some pundits view as the top rated outside linebacker in this year's draft class, and could at least start at weakside linbacker for the Cards defense at the onset of the season.

27. Cowboys
team
Pick Breakdown...
Rodger Saffold
OT from Indiana

After watching that playoff game against the Saints, it's evident that Dallas needs to invest in the offensive line.  With Flozell Adams and Marc Colombo both on the wrong side of thirty, it's time to inject some youth into that lineup.  USC's OT Charles Brown is the last of the big time tackles left on the board and if Dallas doesn't grab him now he won't make it past Indy at 31.

28. Chargers
team
Pick Breakdown...
Terrence Cody
DT from Alabama
With LT having been released and Darren Sproles ready to test free agency, the Chargers are now the only team in true need of a running back and is critical they land one.  Thrilled that both CJ Spiller and Ryan Matthews are still on the board, the Bolts have a tough decision to make.  Do they take Spiller, aruably the drafts top back, who most draft experts view as a complimentary runner and return man, or do they select Matthews, a potential three down back with excellent receiving skills.  I give the nod to Matthews which keeps Sproles as the third down back who wil continue starring in the return game.

29. Jets
team
Pick Breakdown...
Jared Odrick
DT from Penn State
Some say that New York should look to WR at this pick, but with Braylon Edwards signed through this year and Jerricho Cotchery performing at a high level, this is not the spot where you draft a number three receiver.  Still stinging from the Vernon Gholston debacle, the J-E-T-S need to add a speed rusher on the outside to do what Gholston hasn't been able to do in his brief and uninspiring tenure in New York.  Head Coach Rex Ryan has gone on record saying that 2010 is a make or break year for the former Buckeye and to reinforce that they go with Penn State DT Jared Odrick at the 29th pick.

30. Vikings
team
Pick Breakdown...
Brian Price
DT from UCLA

With Chester Taylor having been released AP still needs a third down back to give him a breather and the Vikes would love to see Spiller fall this far but it's not going to happen. So with serious issues in the secondary as Antoine Winfield is 33 and Cedric Griffin tore his ACL in the NFC title game, Minnesota turns its attention to the defensive backfield, and lands FSU corner Patrick Robinson.

31. Colts
team
Pick Breakdown...
Charles Brown
OT from USC

As Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis continue to get older, the Colts will need to consider the future of the D line at this pick.  Shocked to see the third best DT fall to them at this spot, Indy can't help but to be overjoyed to select Price who is one of the quickest defensive tackles in the draft.  The former UCLA Bruin can spend his first year in the league learning the tricks of the trade from arguably one of the best in the game at his position.

32. Saints
team
Pick Breakdown...
Jerry Hughes
OLB from TCU
Few holes in the Super Bowl champs line-up so they have the luxury of going for depth or best available player at the final selection in round one.  As such, they'll most likely look to LB, DE, or OL to add depth behind their starters.  With the Free Agent loss of strong side linebacker Scott Fujita to the Browns, the Saints will look to fill the void with the former Horned Frog, who after a terrific showing at the combine has really improved his stock and should make his way into the starting lineup in the Big Easy.

Only though I have is that Charles Brown doesn't fit the Cowboys "type" for an offensive lineman. He's slim and trim compared to usual Cowboys tackles.

Great Mock, I don't see Spiller falling to #28 though... Also, it is imperative that the Rams get a quarterback.

While you make a great point about the bengals being wary of Gresham and more likely to be interested in Gronkowski, as a fan in the Nati, i'll argue your pick. You're on the right track with a DT but we need a pass rusher like Price or Odrick before another run-stuffer.

Bradford is going number 1, it's throwing your whole mock out of whack.

Thanks justin, honestly I had a hard time trying to visualize where Spiller would go and 28 is too far. I'll be updating this shortly and he'll climb for sure.

LWG, I watched Gresham during the combine and he looked fully recovered from his injury so I don't doubt if Cincy jumps on him. If they sign TO they'll have a terrific offense.

Planning on changing the Ravens from Benn now that they picked up Boldin?

Yeah the Ravens will probably turn their attention to DB after having signed Boldin

Very nice draft. You present good arguments for your picks backed up by interesting facts. Your case against Gresham going to Cincy actually has me rethinking my pick there, but I don't think anyone is sold on Coffman (injury-prone in college, looks like he'll be injury-prone in the NFL)and TE has been a void in that offense for much too long. My only problem with your mock is with Spiller, who ab

You're right about Spiller falling that far in the draft and I really don't think that he'll fall too far but I'm having trouble finding a home for him. That pick is certain to change.

I wouldn't mind if the Steelers drafted Spiller. However only in the event that McClain, Haden, and the tackles are gone. I'm not a huge fan of Dan Williams, Personally perfer Cam Thomas and Torrell Troup. IDK why I like Troup but I do. lol. Best case imo, McClain, Pouncey, Kareem jackson or Chris Cook

Spiller will either go to the 9ers who need a kick returner badly or the Seahawks who need a running back badly. The Seahawks at 14 makes the most sense.

The Broncos at 11 could go for McClain or Dan williams. Do you think Josh McDaniels would want to have another diva WR on his team?

I tend to agree with you on the receiver front and I'm thinking McClain will probably be the pick with all of the upgrades on the DL.

if ur a steelers fan than u should know better than to think well take iupati. when do we ever draft offensive lineman in the first round? and even if we did it would be Pouncey because Iupati has problems in pass protection. I think he would be good in Pittsburgh but we have much better options with that pick
